Curved, straight or bean-shaped: bacilli come in many variants and are widely spread.

Actinomycetes (bacterium)

Human pathogens in this species are, for example, Actinomyces israelii, Actinomyces naeslundii, Actinomyces viscosus, Actinomyces odontolyticus, Actinomyces pyogenes that may trigger actinomycosis (ray fungus disease).

Transmission seems to occur primarily endogenous via mucosa lesions because Actinomycetes are part of the human mucosa.
