Epstein-Barr virus – EBV
(enveloped virus)

Epstein-Barr virus is an enveloped virus in the Herpesviridae family. It has the form of an icosahedral capsid (spherical shape). In adults, EBV infection often causes glandular fever. EBV is also associated to formation of tumours.

The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
