Hepatitis E virus is a nonenveloped, icosahedral capsid (spherical shape) in the Hepeviridae family. The clinical course of hepatitis E infections resembles that of hepatitis A infections and may end in acute hepatitis.
The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
