Human herpesvirus 7 is an enveloped virus in the Herpesviridae family. It has the form of an icosahedral capsid (spherical shape). The pathogen elicits Exanthema subitum (three-day fever) in infants.
Transmission mainly occurs via droplets or particles in the air.
