Klebsiella granulomatis is a Gram-negative, facultative anaerobic, rod-shaped bacterium of the Enterobacteriaceae family. The bacterium exists in a number of morphological forms (pleomorphic), i.e. it can have a straight or curved form; cocci and diplococci have been observed as well. An infection with this pathogen may cause Granuloma inguinale (genital ulcers).
The main transmission path is direct or indirect contact with contaminated persons or objects.
