Listeria monocytogenes is a Gram-positive, rod-shaped, facultative anaerobe and a member of the Listeriaceae family. In immunodeficient persons, Listeria monocytogenes may cause feverish infection or gastroenteritis.
Transmission mainly occurs via contaminated water and food respectively.
