Orientia tsutsugamushi

Orientia tsutsugamushi is a Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium of the Rickettsiaceae family. Infections with the pathogen may lead to the tsutsugamushi fever (also called Japanese river fever), similar to epidemic typhus.

Orientia tsutsugamushi is primarily transmitted by mite larvae.
