Roseomonas gilardii

Roseomonas gilardii is an aerobic, Gram-negative coccobacillus that belongs to the genus Roseomonas. The microorganism forms pink-pigmented colonies.

The opportunistic pathogen primarily causes infection in immunodeficient patients. There were above all cases of bacteraemia that were often associated with intravascular catheters. Furthermore, R. gilardii can trigger respiratory tract infection and inflammation of soft tissue, bones and joints.

Due to the small number of cases the transmission path of the pathogen has not been clarified yet.
