Staphylococcus lugdunensis is an aerobic, Gram-positive, spherical bacterium of the Staphylococcaceae family. The coagulase-negative bacterium may lead to surgical site infection, bloodstream infection or endocarditis.
Resistance to penicillin is increasingly encountered.
