Taenia solium

The pork tapeworm Taenia solium is a parasite that infests the human intestine. The intestinal infection with Tenia solium (taeniasis) often shows not symptoms; abdominal pain, sickness, diarrhoea or obstipation may occur. The larval cysts (cysticerci) of Taenia solium trigger cysticercosis in humans.

Transmission mainly occurs via contaminated food.

For a successful inactivation of parasites, specific disinfectants effective against parasites are required.
