Trypanosoma cruzi
(parasite)

Trypanosoma cruzi is a protozoan flagellate which belongs to the Trypanosomatidae. It is a elongated spiral shaped parasite which causes Chagas-disease in Latin America. Trypanosoma cruzi is transmitted to humans by the faeces of the kissing bug.

For a successful inactivation of parasites, specific disinfectants effective against parasites are required.
