Yersinia pestis is a facultative anaerobic, Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium of the Enterobacteriaceae family. It is the pathogen of Black Death (zoonosis).
Yersinia pestis is mainly transmitted via the rat flea. Human-to-human transmission occurs via droplets.
